Have you ever had a project in mind, materials at hand and just never get around to doing it? Well that seems to be the modus operandi of my upcycling projects.
Several years ago, I acquired a beautiful 8 pane wooden frame window. The minute I saw it, I knew it would be perfect to showcase a photograph. The frame sat and sat and sat – for almost four years.
Today however, I got rolling on this project and have it 90% completed. What finally lit a fire under my butt? A quote I saw on line.
In a field of Roses
I am a Wildflower
The word WILDFLOWER is what did it for me.
I have in my stash, some pretty digital photographs. I am by no means a trained photographer, but I know what I like and sometimes, I hit it just right. One of my favorite shots was an unplanned quick shot of a post and rail fence with wildflowers in front of it and spruce trees in the background. I took the photo at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel NY 5-6 years ago. I like the shot so much that I matted and framed it and have it hanging in my livingroom.
Today I combined that spur of the moment shot and the window frame into a beautiful wall decoration. I’d like to somehow incorporate the phrase that inspired me to finally put the window to use into the panes, but I just haven’t figured out how yet.
If I figure out how to incorporate the phrase without compromising the integrity of the piece, I’ll post an update!
